History of IPL
The Indian Premier League:
The Indian Premier League is a Twenty20 cricket competition, created by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). This competition is sanctioned by the International Cricket Council.
Lalit Modi is the of Chairman of the IPL. , The governing council consists of Sunil Gavaskar,Ravi Shastri, MAK Pataudi, Rajiv Shukla, Chirayu Amin, Inderjit Singh Bindra and Arun Jaitley.
The league is scheduled to start on 18th April 2008 and final on 1st June a total of 44 days, involving 59 matches. The prize money for the league will be around Rs 13 crore (US $3million).
Each team will have 16 players, with a maximum of eight foreign players. Additionally, at least four players must be from the area where the team is based.
