Sony Television network and Singapore based World Sports Group secured the rights of the Indian Premier League. The record deal has a duration of ten years at a cost of more than US $1 billion. As part of the deal, they will pay the BCCI 90% of the money (US$918 million) for the telecast rights and and remaining (US$108 million) for the promotion of the tournament.
Network Ten has bought the rights to show every game live in Australia on free-to-air television for the next five years at a cost of AU$10 - $15 million.
Indian real estate developer DLF Universal secured exclusive rights to the Indian Premier League title sponsorship worth INR 200 crore (over US$50 million) for five years.
Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Limited won Mumbai for $111.9 million
Dr. Vijay Mallya of UB group won the Bangalore Royal Challengers for $111.6 million
Deccan Chronicle won the Hyderabad for $107 million
N Srinivasan of India Cements won the Chennai Super Kings for $91 million
GMR Holdings won Delhi Dare Devils for $84 million
Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia , Karan Paul (Apeejay Surendera Group) and Mohit Burman (Dabur) won Mohali for $76 million
Shah Rukh Khan,Juhi Chawla Mehta and Jay Mehta won Kolkata for $75.09 million
Emerging Media (Manoj Badale, Lachlan Murdoch, Suresh Chellaram) won Jaipur for $67 million
